Polly Wilkie and Kitty Thibault started the Prestige Club in 1996, mainly to raise money to help children with diseases and for educational programs. There are no salaried employees or Administrative costs. We are a 501c3 and every penny goes to the children. Last year Prestige Club helped twenty-one agencies plus individual children who had special needs. Organizations benefiting from the $100,000.00 raised were A Child is Missing, Light of the World Clinic, James Jr Fund, Hope Outreach, SOS Village, Children's Harbor, Easter Seals, PAL programs in Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Hollywood, Les and Ease Pantries, The Davie Boys and Girls Clubs, Schott Communities, Joe Di Maggio Children's Hospital, The Florida Prevention for Suicide and many others. We meet once a month at the SW Focal Sr. Center for breakfast on the fourth Thursday of the month and have two fundraisers a year. We have raised close to one and a half million dollars. The organization was named the Prestige Club because membership is by invitation only and is limited to 100 businesses and twelve non profits. On September 11th, 2007 a new chapter called Prestige Club of North Broward started with some of our Board Members who moved to the North end of the County. Our annual Gala will be joint even though we are two separated 501C3s.
From golf tournaments to Halloween parties and Teas your Prestige Club raises money to help those in need
Polly Wilkie, a Vice President with Community Bank of Broward, is President of the Prestige Club. “We wanted people who were really interested in helping others and were dedicated to the organization…not just another networking group that comes together just to network”, says Polly. The club’s purpose is twofold - to promote members’ businesses and raise funds for charity. The group rents a bus six times a year for members and spouses to visit each other’s businesses on a three-hour tour.
