FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — We all want to see children get the best start possible for the coming school year. That¹s why the owners of ClearGrafx Printing and Events, Etc…, took time from their own agendas, to assist school children through the not-for-profit Light of the World Clinic – The only free, privately supported medical clinic in Broward County.

Volunteers from Events, Etc…, with help from ClearGrafx Printing and the Prestige Club of Broward, collected items to fill more than 100 backpacks with school supplies for students who came to the clinic for back-to-school check-ups.  Each child examined received a backpack filled with goodies.

“It means everything to the children who received these backpacks full of all the supplies they need for their classrooms,” boasted Sandra Lozano-Barry, Executive Director of the clinic. “The families of many of these kids have no way to afford the school supplies they need, but now 100 children can be proud to go to school knowing they are fully prepared.

The backpacks, themselves, were supplied by Publix and were filled with many of the necessities for back-to-school.  Events, Etc…, ClearGrafx and the Prestige Club donated such items as pencils, notebook paper, composition books, glue sticks, erasers, rulers, crayons and folders.

The Light of the World Clinic was founded by the late Dr. Erwin Vasquez, in 1989, to fill a void in the Broward community. Its primary goal is to provide free basic healthcare and medicines to those who can least afford it. The Clinic serves more than 12,000 men, women and children a year. Volunteer
physicians, nurses and medical students donate their time and resources, and millions of dollars are saved for taxpayers by this humanitarian effort. The Clinic receives no funding from the public healthcare system and relies on personal donations, special events and grants to continue its bountiful spirit of dedication to the less fortunate in our community.  More information about the clinic and its work can be found at www.FlaFreeClinic.org.

Prestige Club is a not for profit 501c (3) organization, established in 1996. Its purpose is to encompass a networking group of business leaders and help promote their services and skills to the community while at the same time organizing various fundraising, charity, and educational events towards the advancement of people less fortunate. This past July 3rd, 2011 Prestige Club participated in  Christmas In July at Starlight  Pompano Ice Rink with Santa.  Santa took some time off from his duties at the North Pole to spend time with the children in sunny South Florida.  We would like to thank the volunteers for their assistance.  It was a great turnout and the children had a lot of fun, and so did Santa and his helpers.

The book is a life history starting with her great grand parent’s oil exploration in Illinois.

Polly continues to tell the story of how with only a sixth grade education her great grandfather became a member of the board of directors of a savings and loan bank. He also owned a coal mine.  Polly tells how her grandparents raised eight children and the tragedies they endured.  Her grandfather was a part time minister who delivered the St Louis Globe Newspaper to the local small town farmers during the week.

Polly’s family had many difficulties due to her father’s illness which eventually lead to him becoming a drug addict.  The family consisted of two children.  Polly’s tells what a very important roll her grandparents, aunts, and uncles played in her daily life.  They were always there for her due to her father’s illness when she was very small.

The author shares with her readers the secrets of why she did and felt so many things that were based on her past experiences.  It all comes out after her visit with a hypnotist. The realities of her past are revealed.

There’s a love fest happening at one Broward County park.

C.B. Smith Park, 901 N. Flamingo Road, in Pembroke Pines serves as the venue for Prestige Club’s annual Bart Reed Love Fest Picnic on November 19, 2011.

The all-day festival, named in memory of Prestige founder Polly Wilkie’s son who perished four years ago in a car accident, the picnic crams more than 4,000 needy families into C.B. Smith Park for a day-long festival of barbecuing and donations.

On Friday, March 30th, 2012 Inverrary Golf and Country Club will host the GRANDEST of all golf tournaments in South Florida, “The 8th Annual Rick Case Classic” benefiting Prestige Club. Registration starts at 7:00am, with a Shotgun Start at 8:00am.

The last Rick Case Classic, the 7th Annual which was held March 25th, 2011, featured sponsorship opportunities which offered tremendous benefits to match the level of donation from $1000 and up. Tee sign and program advertising were also available at reduced rates. Plus, there were thousands of dollars in trophies, awards and prizes given away. There were even opportunities to earn cars for hole in one(s) on all par 3’s and great prizes for closest to the pin on all par 3’s, longest drive(s) and a putting contest.
